From #Caimanera our children's circles CI Soldaditos de la Frontera, Caimanera, Guantánamo, Cuba and Los Viernamitas dress up as today marks the 63rd anniversary of the creation of the Children's Circles in Cuba. Vilma Espín, heroine of the Sierra Maestra and founder of the FMC of which she was president until her death on June 18, 2007, was the initiator and promoter of the idea. The day care centers began with a staff made up mainly of domestic workers, housewives, and peasant girls who came to study in Havana. In all of them, love for children prevailed. At first they only took care of them, but the goal was more ambitious: to educate them. For this reason, the Cuban State took steps to improve those who work in these institutions. In the circles, children from 45 days old to six years old receive pedagogical, medical, stomatological and ophthalmological care, nursing, food, and clothing, among other benefits. Until the early 1980s, these facilities were managed by the Children's Institute and later taken over by the Ministry of Education, for which the preschool education subsystem was created that covered the education of these children. From that stage on, efforts in education were aimed at strengthening care, the Educate Your Child Program and development for minors, along with improving the training of highly qualified personnel. Another of the tasks carried out by the Ministry of Education is the incorporation of non-formal pathways in preschool education, through the Educate Your Child program. In Cuba today there are 1,130 daycare centers attended by more than nine thousand educators and although they do not meet the demand, they satisfy the needs of more than 154 thousand children. 70 percent of the preschool child population participates in the Educate your child program. It is 63 years since the creation of the Children's Circles on the initiative of #Fidel and Vilma Espín. A hug to those who, day after day, with great dedication, keep this work alive, one of the most beautiful of our Revolution. #PeopleQueSuma
